Los Angeles Thieves, Miami Heretics unbeaten in CDL Stage 3 qualifying

The unbeaten Los Angeles Thieves made perhaps a bit of a statement while the Miami Heretics remained atop the standings through Saturday at the Call of Duty League stage 3 Major Qualifiers.

The Thieves (2-0) had the only sweep on Saturday, while the Heretics, Vegas Falcons and Boston Breach posted 3-1 victories.

The Stage 3 Major qualifying round has the league’s 12 teams playing five qualifying matches apiece through April 20 to determine seeding for the Stage 3 Major playoffs, slated for April 24-27 in Boca Raton, Fla.

The Thieves dominated Cloud 9 New York, winning 250-201 on Protocol Hardpoint, 6-2 on Rewind Search & Destroy and 3-1 on Hacienda Control.

The Miami Heretics dropped the first map to Atlanta FaZe, 250-218 on Vault Hardpoint before recovering to win 6-5 on Dealership Search & Destroy, 3-1 on Hacienda Control and 250-220 on Red Card Hardpoint.

The Vegas Falcons started fast with a 250-185 win over OpTic Texas on Vault Hardpoint, dropped a 6-5 outcome on Red Card Search & Destroy, then closed out with a 3-2 win on Vault Control and a decisive 250-112 victory on Skyline Hardpoint.

Boston Breach followed a similar path to down Los Angeles Guerrillas M8. Boston took Vault Hardpoint 250-209 then was edged 6-5 in Hacienda Search & Destroy. Boston responded with a 3-2 decision on Hacienda Control and a 250-192 victory on Hacienda Hardpoint.
