In this role, effective immediately, Smith will oversee Centric’s kids division across all global brands and categories. He is charged with driving strategic growth, strengthening consumer engagement, and furthering the company’s leadership in the kids’ apparel space through innovation and operational excellence. He will equally join the company’s executive leadership team.

Smith will work closely alongside Steve Pinkow, who has served as group president of the kids division since 2007. Pinkow will transition into a consultancy role by year-end, supporting the business through 2026.

“Rob is a dynamic and purpose-driven leader with a strong track record of building brands, scaling businesses, and inspiring teams,” said Jason Rabin, chief executive officer, Centric Brands, who Smith will report to.

“His deep industry expertise and forward-thinking approach will be invaluable as we advance our kids’ platform globally. I am extremely thankful to Steve for his friendship, dedication and the business he built over the past 17 years. He has left an indelible mark on the organization.”

With more than 35 years of experience in fashion, apparel, denim, and activewear, Smith brings a broad perspective across men’s, women’s, and kids’ categories. Most recently, he was the CEO and founder of The Phluid Project, a mission-driven brand known for its inclusive approach to fashion, education, and community engagement. Under his leadership, Phluid grew its retail presence to more than 10,000 locations across North America.

Smith has also served on the board of directors at Steve Madden and held executive roles at Haddad Brands, Macy’s, and Victoria’s Secret.

I look forward to working with the talented teams at Centric to continue driving innovation, expanding our global reach, and creating meaningful connections with families around the world.”
