After a busy weekend of tremendous college basketball games, it’s understandable if you want to take a break and bet on the NBA. There are 13 games on deck for Monday, and we’ve identified three as our best NBA bets for the day.
Let’s take a look at those games.
Los Angeles Lakers (-6) vs. Brooklyn Nets (+200)
If Lakers fans are wondering what life post-LeBron will be like, they’ll get a taste of it over the next week or so as he nurses a groin injury. So, for at least the next few games, the Lakers will be Luka Doncic’s team. Can he carry them to victory?
The Lakers are a .500 team on the road (15-15), but they are facing a Brooklyn team that has a better record away (12-21) from home than on its own court (9-21).
L.A. is coming off a road loss to the Boston Celtics, 111-100. James was injured late in the game, finishing one assist away from a triple-double. Doncic scored 34 points and had eight rebounds.
As for the Nets, they let the game slip away Saturday night in Charlotte, losing to the Hornets 105-102.
It’s a little concerning that the Lakers beat the Nets by one point at home in January. But the Lakers are rolling these days with wins in eight of their last 10 games. The loss to Charlotte was the seventh in a row for Brooklyn.
The Nets have lost their last four home games. There is no reason to think they’ll rise up and play a competitive game against Luka and the Lakers.
Our pick: Lakers -6 (DraftKings)

Orlando Magic (+154) vs. Houston Rockets (-5)
Houston (39-25, 21-10 home) has had some issues in recent weeks but is coming off a pair of wins in get-right games against the New Orleans Pelicans—one in the Big Easy (109-97) and the other at home (146-117). They had lost their previous three.
Orlando (30-35, 12-19 away) beat the Bucks in Milwaukee on Saturday, 111-109, bringing a five-game losing streak to an end.
Our pick: Rockets -5 (DraftKings)
Houston is 5-5 in its last 10, so I don’t have complete faith in them. Yes, the Magic just beat a solid Bucks team in Milwaukee. But I see that as more of a one-off rather than a new direction for an Orlando team that lost its previous five. Houston will cover.
Jalen Green, over 21.5 points at -120 (DraftKings)
Green is averaging 21.1 points per game this season but only had 14 in Houston’s big win over the Pelicans. But with Amen Thompson ruled out and Fred VanVleet questionable, chances are Green will be called on to step up on the offensive end.

Denver Nuggets (+285) vs. Oklahoma City Thunder (-8.5)
Games like this one can be hard to predict because it’s challenging to be objective when two teams face off after playing the day before. For three quarters, it was a competitive contest as the Thunder took a three-point lead into the fourth quarter.
But then Oklahoma City crushed the final period 41-20, turning a close game into a blowout.
Our pick: Nuggets +9
Denver is a tremendous team, one of the better ones in the NBA. But it’s also a team that has been up and down of late, losing three of its last six. However, in Sunday’s loss to the Thunder, the game was competitive through three quarters.
I think the Nuggets will adjust and stop another such blowout from occurring. Assuming they can, this should be a good, competitive game that is won by a few points—and certainly not by 10-plus. Oklahoma City will probably win, but the difference will be single digits this time.
